Looking for something to entertain your little elves? We made finger paints this week -- it was wonderfully messy and kept us occupied for about an hour. My son is learning colors so we stuck with green and blue. The recipe is simple, and used things we have on hand (good for when you've been snowed in all week!).
Finger Paint
3 T sugar
1/2 t salt
3 T sugar
1/2 t salt
2 C cold water
1/2 C cornstarch
food coloring
In a sauce pan, mix all of the ingredients except the food coloring. Cook over low heat, stirring often, until thick. Allow to cool.
When ready to paint, divide mixture and use food coloring to create as many colors as you want!

Oh I did that with my kids one time, too. It's fun, isn't it? :)
