Uses For Muffin Tins

I use my muffin tins for a lot more than making muffins and cupcakes. They are a great tool for portion control, and make ahead toddler lunches!

  • I make stove top mac and cheese from scratch and then freeze it in muffin tins.
  • Rachel Ray taught me that muffin tins are great for stuffing and meatloaf
  • When I have left over fruit, I chop it and freeze it in muffin tins. Then, when I want to make a smoothie, I have a glass sized hunk of frozen fruit. I put all my ingredients right in the glass and use my immersion blender to make the smoothie.
  • I like to make up a pan of Easy Mini Quiche for my son's lunches when eggs are on sale
  • If you are making muffins, may I suggest something savory? Pizza Muffins and Spinach Muffins are great with soup or a salad.

  1. Great ideas! I am planning on using mine to freeze 1/2 c portions of choppped onions. I HATE chopping onions and they are on sale this week so I plan on whirling those things in the food processor, portioning them out in my muffin tins and freezing them to add to all kinds of stuff.

  3. All great ideas. I was thinking of trying meatloaf in them sometime. I have heard of that before. Freezing fruit for smoothies is an awesome idea!

  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one to use muffin tins for something other than muffins! We make double batches of soup and ladle soup into the muffin tins, freeze them and then pop them out and store in freezer baggies. Easy fast lunches!
