My DH loves Groundhog Day -- the holiday, not the movie. I don't know why. He just really looks forward to it, and spends the day celebrating by holding up our fat cat and looking for his shadow.
I decided to surprise him with some decorations for our fireplace. Nothing fancy -- just a banner made from string, construction paper, and coffee filters. I started with
this template for the groundhog couple, and built on the theme by making snowflakes and flowers from coffee filters.
This is a goofy waste of time, I know. But DH and the kids loved it.
It sounds like fun. My son and DIL went down to Puxatawnie a few years ago on groundhog day to see if the ground hog saw it's shadow or not. They thought it was a fun thing to do.
ReplyDeleteDH wants to go too, but I think we'll wait until the kids are older.
